Digi-log Entry: 031.00: The Discovery

It’s very exciting.  Every corner of Scalenus-Three is buzzing after the discovery, early this morning, of an opening to a mysterious network of tunnels, running as deep as a mile beneath our city.

Rumors.  Everyone’s talking about it, in the bars, on their vizcoms, on their digi-logs.  This is the biggest thing to have hit us since The Cult Parallax Incident which held the city captive for about three months, a year and a half ago.  Weird stories and rumors are flying all over the place about a mysterious race called, Lu’zaarians who were supposed have built the tunnels.  A few people have asked me if I think there is any possibility of anyone living down there—as if I should know, though I would be lying if said I wasn’t curious about that, myself.

Okay, so as the official report goes:  Last spring, Drell Kcuttor and certain other members of the Kcuttor Alliance became aware of a nearly forgotten legend that had been revived recently about an ancient civilization, which had disappeared from this area thousands of years ago.  The entire population had simply vanished overnight never to be seen or heard of again.  When this story reached Kcuttor’s ears it obviously peaked his interest enough to investigate it further.

Why should he care? Legends are an integral part of our cultural heritage and new ones are being uncovered all the time.  However, it makes me wonder:  What was it that made this particular legend stand out enough to attract the attention of someone like Drell Kcuttor?

Since the news of his investigations leaked out (a week or so after they had begun), several interest groups have sprung up on the beam.  These enthusiasts began talking feverishly about the legend, sharing ideas and theories regarding the fate of the Lu’zaarian civilization and about Kcuttor’s interest in them.

The members of the principle group have adopted the designation of Nu’zaarian and have named their beam line Nu’zaarian Conflab—excellent!

Digi-log Entry: 032.00: Fueled discussion

Then a name came to light, Jo’Shuan Tenar, who was the originator of the story and seemed to be a well-informed source for much of the material that’s been circulating the beam for the last year or so.  Tenar has, himself, since vanished in as mysterious a fashion as the ancient civilization that he seemed to be so knowledgeable about.  This has fueled further discussion about the importance of the tunnels and conspiracy theories are abound!

Digi-log Entry: 033.00: Kcuttor Labyrinths

I’ve been hearing over the beam that the Kcuttor Alliance has assembled a team of specialists to explore the tunnels, which they’ve since given the temporary moniker, Kcuttor Labyrinths, after Drell Kcuttor the (corporate) leader of the group that ‘discovered’ the tunnels.  (I think there’s a competition in the works for a ‘real’ name, as if Lu’zaarian Labyrinths isn’t good enough!)

I also picked up on a rumor that all attempts to get complete scans of the tunnels from the surface have failed, so apparently the specialists will have to physically enter and attempt to map them the ‘old fashioned’ way, from the inside, while searching for logical answers to their origins.  Good luck with that, you guys!
