Very exciting news! Charlie Anders at avant garde online magazine io9 did a great interview with Junie Morrison last week, entitled: io9 Talks to Junie About P-Funk and Aliens. You should definitely check it out and leave a comment.
Eclectic electric evening working on a cross-section of projects… brainstorming like we always do… stretch an idea then cut it in half… its dark outside but it doesn’t matter… I’m still full from a plate of beans and rice I had earlier… there’s music in the background so energetic… I find myself nodding my head in time to the rhythm… eight o’clock… its time to hit the books…

Junie Morrison
Producer, Musician and
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductee
One of my favorite things in this world, is the enigmatic mind of Junie Morrison.
In my opinion, that hyper-active, inexhaustible imagination puts him on a par with the greatest minds of all time.
He is, among other things, a dynamic producer and recording artist, with a talent beyond words.
His musical ideas are always fresh, forward-looking and very inspiring. Frighteningly brilliant, he can (and does) make an album from start to finish—recording, engineering, mixing, mastering and so on, entirely on his own.
I think Junie Morrison is well deserving of his 1997 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. He’s a gifted musician, who plays a virtual array of instruments, including guitar, bass, keyboards, horns, drums… Forgive me if I’ve left anything out, but the thought of having to get one’s head around playing even a single one of these instruments as magnificently as he does, let alone so many, makes me dizzy, to say the least.
However, it doesn’t stop there. He’s very intelligent and knowledgeable, an internet whiz, who knows more than a thing, or two, about computer programming and the creation of really cool websites.
Then, as if this isn’t enough, he still, somehow finds the energy to be a very positive influence and a steadfast advocate, forever helpful and encouraging of the work and talents of others.
Whew! Shall I go on, or, is it all too much?
Is your head about to implode?
What? More, you say?
Okay, Junie has a fab web site where you can read his blog and discography and learn more about his productions, both in the USA and Europe, with some of the most important bands of our day, including the Ohio Players, P-Funk and Soul II Soul, plus his own innovative solo work.
Oh, and check out The Junie Store, if you dare… Watch out though, coz you too might be inspired by his versatility and brain-melting creativity!

Do you ever have completely random thoughts?
Disconnected ideas that have no real meaning and yet you sense patterns in the way that they take form?
When you sit quietly and and allow your mind to drift, it picks up images and snippets of sound, abstract molecules of long-forgotten moments…
This is what I call thinking randomly. It’s where my poetry is conceived and where my stories find their form.
It’s just there in the crack between waking and sleep. The no-man’s land between thought and words, in the abyss between perception and understanding. I go to it sometimes, I meet it like a good friend, welcome it like a much needed cool drink on a hot day and it is always gone, much too soon, randomly speaking…
While going about our daily lives, I wonder if we ever consider how often we exchange these and other random, but frequently asked questions:
1. What’s your name?
2. Where are you from?
3. What do you do for a living?
4. What time is it?
5. Where did you get those?
6. How much did that cost?
7. Why am I here?
8. What did I do to deserve this?
9. Why is this happening to me?
10. How much longer?
11. Is that it?
12. How did that happen?
13. Does this make me look fat?
14. Have you heard the one about?
15. What did I say?
16. Now what?
17. May I take your order?
18. How may I help you?
19. What the heck is this?
20. Do you have this in black?
21. How many times have I told you?
22. Is it always like this?
23. Can I have one?
24. Do you like it?
25. What are you doing?
26. Where are you going?
27. Did you hear anything I just said?
28. How are you?
29. What are you doing here?
30. Are you crazy?
The tiger said:
“I am ready to die…
And I shall meet my death
As a tiger should,
Not enslaved and trapped in an enclosure,
Losing my fur and fading with old age,
But while I am still at the peak of my years
And have power in my claws.
I shall meet the moment
With fresh blood on my breath,
Baring my fangs,
Ready to pounce once more
With all my strength.
I shall go to my death
As a tiger should,
Roaring to the last,
Hissing and fighting.
I shall meet my last moments,
Not as a domesticated pet
Or an exhibit,
But as a tiger should,
Fierce, wild and free.”
