Coffee and Contemplation...Taking a moment to contemplate the abstract and the conceptual over a cup of coffee and a bran muffin... unfinished thoughts, poetry, prose, music and film reside here... cast your eye, hopefully you'll find some pleasure in what you discover...

You belong to us,
Do not scream of fuss.
We will erase your need to do more,
Do not resist us…

Cyberlation
“Cyberlation”
A Digital Construct
By Annyash760

Cyberlation was constructed in the digital environment.  It was an attempt at a message that spoke to the nature of us as human beings, and our recently increasing dependence on technology, to both interact with one another and to validate who we are as people.

The technologies that we once considered to be mere tools, have now become utterly intertwined with our personalities.  We are woven into the complexities of a networked mentality to the point where we would not wish to extricate ourselves from the thickening intercellular substance that binds us to the web, even if we could…

Step In Time
(Cyberlation - Song of the Drones
)

You belong to us
Do not scream of fuss
We will erase your need to do more
Do not resist us

You belong to us
Your dreams are valueless
We’ll tune your mind to fre-quen-cy four
You’re never free from us

You belong to us
You are now one with us
We’re drones of limited thought processes
Keep in step with us.

A transcript of just one of the many strange conversations that take place in our office on a daily basis...

- “Grrrr!!”
- “Wha’s up?”
- “I feel evil today!”
- “Huh?”
- “I feel really evil today.”
- “… Well, you don’t look evil.”
- “… Hmmm...”
- “Anyway, you’re far too cute to be evil.”
- “Trust you to spoil it!”
- “Sorry!”

Since spring is in the air, I’m in the process of making a few cosmetic alterations to my site.

So don’t be too surprised if things sort of change on you as you move around from page to page.  Just remember to wear a hard hat!

There is no reason for a heavy heart,
Look up and feel the sun on your face,
That entity of heat and light,
That fills us with awesome power
Beyond our understanding.

ENIAC, short for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer, was the first general-purpose electronic computer. It was a Turing-complete, digital computer capable of being reprogrammed to solve a full range of computing problems.

Ideas are like little particles that float around in the air… Okay, so I know how dumb that sounds, and be assured that I am joking, well, kind of.  But, honestly, whenever I think about it, it’s at least one description that can be assigned to the way that ideas manifest.  Since it’s in the realm of the abstract, you could just as easily describe the source of ideas as a stream, or a well.

What interests me is the concept of how ideas are continually duplicating, disappearing, reappearing, altering.  Capture one, concentrate on it, write it down, draw it, record it, or whatever, and see what happens.

One thing I find amazing though, is how two or more people can find and develop the same idea in different ways.  (This is also where, in this world of copyright infringement and intellectual property issues, we can come a cropper).  But, my main point is, that it is fascinating that no matter where we are in the world, we can all pull from the same particles circulating in our dreams, fantasies and visualizations.

I would consider that this may even be true for those who are more geared toward being technically, or scientifically proficient.  As I understand it, a scientist will develop a theory first and then go about proving it; in the technological world, someone had to conceptualize the first television before he went about building that bad boy.

However, history gets all fuzzy and then the struggle begins, because the credit will go to whomever gets the recognition first, and not necessarily to the person that actually drew up the original design for that first TV

This being the case, we find ourselves embroiled in controversies similar to those surrounding movies like Monsters Inc., to popular social network applications like Facebook (which has now settled with ConnectU founders), popular hardware developments like the Blackberry, to novels like The Da Vinci Code, to… who the frak was it that actually invented the first computer...?  Coz, it gets real personal.  We want our proper credit for all the hard work (and financial investment) we put into developing that great idea and bringing it to the people, right?

So, back to my original question about ideas.  Where do you think they come from?
